Casa Blanca Solar-Over-Canal

Working for PMIP (Pima Maricopa Irrigation Project) and their tribal affiliates, GRICUA - Gila River Indian Community Utility Authority, and GRIDD (Gila River Indian Irrigation and Drainage District) ISC energized the first-ever solar over canal project in the Western Hemisphere. This unprecedented/innovative project will not only produce a large share of the electricity needed for the Gila River Indian Community but also reduce evaporation by shading the Casa Blanca canal. This project was built using Indigenous and Minority-owned contractors such as Miami Wiipica, a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, SAC (Straight Arrow Construction) and ISC.
